FAQ

Common questions about joining, points, and recording

On this page

Is this a job?

No. It's a Sampo campaign run by PONT K.K. You join by accepting the campaign terms, and you can take part as much or as little as you like.

When do I get my points?

Usually within 5 business days after your recordings are approved.

How much do I get per hour?

You get points worth a set amount for every approved hour. The amount is shown on the campaign screen in the app.

How can I use my points?

Like any other Sampo points. Redeem them for the rewards available in your country, like digital gift cards.

🏦 Bank transfer (coming soon in some countries): We plan to add transfers to a bank account in your own name. We'll announce it in the app. Until then, use the rewards that are already available.

Is there a minimum number of hours?

No. Start and stop whenever you like. It's fine to use other apps or services too.

Do I get money back for the head mount?

After 10 approved hours, you get a one-time head mount support bonus in points. The amount is shown in the app.

What if I get hurt while recording?

No insurance is provided. Stay aware of your surroundings while you record.

Can I post about this on social media?

Yes, feel free to share that you earn Sampo points by recording chores. OK to post: Sampo app screens, screenshots of the recording app (Minute Data), and the test recording you made in Sampo. Don't post: videos you recorded in the recording app, the name or logo of the company that receives the videos, or what the videos are used for (like training AI and robots). Never share your org code or any TestFlight link. See Your videos and privacy.

Can I record anytime?

Yes. Record whenever and as much as you like. You can upload up to 14 hours a day.

I'm not a good cook. Is that OK?

Totally. We need real hand movements from everyday chores, not chef-level skills.

Will my face be on camera?

No. The camera sits on your forehead, pointing down, so it films your hands, not your face.

My video ended at 40 seconds. Does it count?

No. Each video must be at least 60 seconds long.

Can I record chores while sitting down?

No. Seated chores don't count, like folding laundry while sitting on the floor. Stand up and use a table or counter, or pick a task you can do standing.

Can I record several chores in one video?

No. One task per video. Record each chore separately. See Recording rules and what not to do.

Should I keep my phone case on?

Take off thick cases. They may not fit in the head mount.

What if I get a notification while recording?

Stop recording before you reply. Using your phone for personal things while recording is treated as fraud.

Can I record with two phones?

No. Use only one camera.

Can I share my account with family?

No. It's one account per person. That goes for Minute Data too: one account and email per person. Shared accounts are detected and blocked. If family members want to join, they each need to apply.

How long do reviews take?

Test recordings are reviewed within 24 hours. Regular videos take about 3–5 days. Reviews sometimes take longer, so thanks for your patience.

Gear and how to record

Do I need a head mount? Can I use a selfie stick or tape, or have someone else film?

You need a head mount that fixes the phone on your forehead. Videos shot below eye level can't be used and don't earn points. That includes handheld, selfie stick, a camera set down somewhere, someone else filming, or a phone on your chest or body. See Get your head mount and Recording rules and what not to do.

If we find this even once, all your videos are rejected. A second time, you're removed from Minute Data and can't take part anymore. You can't sign up again with a new account. We identify your device. We check your setup during the test recording, so contact us before you start for real if you're having trouble.

Can I start recording partway through a chore, or stop early?

Do the chore you picked from start to finish at your normal pace. Each video needs at least 1 minute. The maximum is 5–30 minutes, depending on the task, and the app stops recording at the limit. For longer chores, finish the rest in a new recording.

Can I record the same chore more than once?

Yes, up to 25 hours in total for the same task. Recording a mix of chores also raises your quality score.

What do "Must" and "Not" mean at the end of a task description?

Must is something you have to do. Not is something you can't do. Videos that break them are rejected. Read each description to the end and pick the task that matches the chore you'll actually do.

My home is messy. Should I clean up first?

No need. We want to see homes as they really are. Just put away anything personal, like mail, documents, or photos.

Can I move things I don't want on camera?

Yes. Put them away or move them out of the shot before you start.

About your videos

Can I edit my video?

No. Submit it exactly as the app recorded it. If something that shouldn't be filmed got in, tap Discard instead of saving, and record again.

A child's voice got into my video.

You can't record children's faces or voices. Don't save the video. Tap Discard. If you already submitted it, delete it as shown in the next question. Try recording when no children are around.

I uploaded a video by mistake.

You can delete it from My Sessions in Minute Data. See Use the Minute Data app.

  1. Tap the middle button at the bottom (the dotted icon) to open Minutes.
  2. Under My Sessions, pick the video.
  3. Tap … in the top right, then Delete Minute.

Videos that have already been reviewed or delivered may not be deletable. Delete as soon as you notice.

I don't have Wi-Fi.

You can record without Wi-Fi. Videos are large files, though, so upload them when you're on Wi-Fi.

Safety and your account

Could my videos be misused?

Your videos are used only to train robots and AI that help with housework. The camera films your hands from your forehead, so your face isn't in the shot. We don't keep your ID images either. See Apply, verify your ID, and pass the test and Your videos and privacy.

Is the app safe?

Minute Data is a recording app available on the App Store and Google Play. Sampo is run by PONT K.K. We handle your personal data under the campaign terms and our privacy policy.

Can I join with a basic phone or a tablet?

No. You need a supported smartphone. See What is the household chores campaign?
