The basic rules

1. Camera position

Use a head-mounted camera only. Fix the phone on your forehead, at eye level, tilted slightly down. Keep your palms, all five fingers, and wrists in the shot at all times. Your hands are the star of the video.

Videos shot below eye level, like on your chest or body or in your hand, can't be used and don't earn points. We check your setup during the test recording. If you're having trouble, contact us before you start for real.

2. At least 1 minute per video, up to the task's maximum

  • Videos shorter than 60 seconds don't count.
  • The maximum is 5–30 minutes, depending on the task. The app shows it and stops recording at the limit. To keep going, start a new recording.

3. Camera and mount

  • Use only one camera.
  • Put on the head mount before you start recording. Don't record yourself putting it on or adjusting it.

4. Lighting

  • Record in a bright place.
  • Keep your hair, hat, and hands away from the lens.

5. Choosing a task

  • Do the chore you picked from start to finish, at your normal pace.
  • Don't have the tools or supplies? Pick a different task. Movement with no real purpose doesn't count.
  • One task per video. Record each chore separately.

6. Requests

What not to do

Videos like these don't earn points. Repeat offenses get you removed from the campaign.

Camera position (we check this most strictly)

  • Don't record below eye level, like on your chest or body or in your hand. Always mount the phone on your forehead.
  • If we find this even once, all your videos are rejected. A second time, you're removed from Minute Data and can't take part anymore.
  • You can't sign up again with a new account. We identify your device.

How you record

  • Don't hold the camera in your hand or set it down somewhere.
  • Don't film other people, screens, or old videos.
  • Don't record seated chores, the same motion over and over, or driving.
    • Seated chores don't count, like folding laundry while sitting on the floor. Stand up and use a table or counter instead.
  • Don't make movements with no purpose (like wiping a clean counter over and over).
  • Don't barely move, move slowly on purpose, or record in the dark.
  • Don't use your phone for personal things while recording. Stop recording first.

Things you must never film or record

  • PINs, passwords, or card numbers
  • The faces or voices of minors
  • Anyone who hasn't agreed to be recorded
  • Documents, screens, addresses, or anything else that identifies someone
  • Nudity, sexual content, or violence

Task mistakes

  • Recording something other than the task you picked
  • Ignoring the Must or Not at the end of a task description. These are hard rules.
  • Getting the same feedback again and again. If you keep recording without fixing it, it's treated as fraud.

Rejected videos, and videos flagged for feedback or fraud, don't earn points.
