Getting Started
What is Sampo?
Sampo is a walk-to-earn app: you earn Points just by walking, then redeem them for real rewards. The basic loop is Walk → Open boxes to collect Points → Redeem for rewards.
Who can use Sampo?
Sampo is for anyone 13 or older; users under the age of majority in their jurisdiction need parental or guardian consent.
Is it free to use?
Yes, Sampo is completely free. You earn Points by walking, watching videos, completing missions, and more — you never pay anything.
Earning by Walking
How do I earn Points?
Six main ways: Walk (a box appears every 1,000 steps), Watch videos, Daily bonuses, Missions (surveys and games), Leveling up your pet, and Inviting friends.
How many boxes can I open?
Up to 3 per 1,000 steps. The first opens instantly with no ad; the rest open after a short video. Boxes reset every day at midnight.
Is it worth coming back every day?
Yes — keep a daily login streak for bonus rewards. Missing a day resets the streak, but it's protected while you're traveling abroad.
Redeeming Your Points
What can I redeem Points for?
Open the Rewards tab to redeem Points for gift cards (in USD).
Do my Points expire?
Yes — Points expire 180 days after your most recent Points-earning activity. As long as you stay active, your Points remain valid.
Why is the Redeem button greyed out?
Three conditions apply: you can't redeem within your first 3 days after signup; you need a minimum amount of Activity Points; and a one-time SMS phone verification is required the first time you redeem.
What happens if a redemption fails?
Your Points are automatically refunded and you'll get a notification — nothing to worry about.
What are Activity Points vs. Friend Bonus?
Activity Points come from walking, videos, missions, etc. Friend Bonus (from invites) only becomes redeemable up to the amount of Activity Points you've earned — e.g. 13,000 Activity Points + 20,000 Friend Bonus = 33,000 total, but only 26,000 is redeemable right now.
Pet & Collection
What is the pet for?
Feed your pet Gems to earn XP and gain Points at each new level. Gems are only for your pet and cosmetics — they have no cash value and can't be redeemed; only Points can.
Invite Codes
What do I get for inviting someone?
When your friend hits 1,000 steps, you both get a bonus — the reward is granted at 1,000 steps, not at download, to prevent fraud.
Is there a limit on invites?
No limit on the number of friends, but duplicate signups from the same device may be invalidated.
Notifications
What notifications will I get? Can I turn them off?
You'll get alerts like "Box ready" and "Mission complete." Most can be turned off, but important ones (like redemption completion) are always delivered.
Account & Settings
How do I sign in? Is switching phones safe?
You can sign in with Apple or Google. After switching phones, your account is restored with the same sign-in — nothing to worry about.
Can I change the display language?
The app follows your device's per-app language setting (English, Japanese, or Korean).
Troubleshooting
My steps aren't being counted.
Step tracking needs permission. On iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Sampo, enable Steps, then Settings → Sampo → Motion & Fitness, enable it, then tap "Re-sync Health" in the app. On Android: Settings → Apps → Sampo → Permissions, allow Physical activity, then tap "Re-sync" in the app.
It says "Ad not available."
The ad is still loading or temporarily unavailable. Try waiting a few minutes, checking your connection, or restarting the app.
I can't earn while abroad.
When we detect you're outside your home market, earning is temporarily paused (your streak stays protected) — this clears automatically once you return.
